NAME
upgradepkg - upgrade system packages.
SYNOPSIS
upgradepkg [ -h, --help ] [ -w,
--report ] [ -r, --root DIR ] [ -v, --verbose ]
newpkgfile [ newpkgfile2, ... ]
DESCRIPTION
upgradepkg attempts to upgrade any
given package that is installed on the system with a newer
package file. If there is no package that matches the new package
file, you should use installpkg instead.
OPTIONS
- -h, --help
- When this option is specified, upgradepkg will print
its own usage instructions and exit.
- -w, --report
- This will cause upgradepkg to only generate a report
of the proposed upgrade instead of actually upgrading any
files. This can be useful to see if upgrading a package will
remove any pre-existing files.
- -r, --root DIR
- Passing this argument causes upgradepkg to install
the given package file into the DIR directory instead of /.
This is useful for installations from removable media such as
DVDs.
- -v, --verbose
- This option will cause upgradepkg to output more
information about the upgrade process than usual. Namely, this
will produce more output as far as the files that are
removed.
